39. Your Opinion Doesn’t Matter
In a discussion based on subjective arguments, the one with the higher position always wins.
This is not the way to lead product design, let alone manage its operation.

The curious thing about this is that reality doesn’t care about opinions, nor who issued them.
That’s why it’s necessary to temporarily abandon opinions or, better yet, base them on evidence and abandon them when there’s no support.
Gathering evidence about the problem to be solved should occupy a large portion of the dedicated resources.
User Experience is not subjective: it can and should be measured.
It’s not subjective whether a particular feature has more or less impact on the business. Nor is it subjective whether a product is meeting its objectives or not.
Basing conclusions on demonstrable evidence is the foundation of any healthy product development process.
