6. UX is autonomy

If we could distill the impact of UX into a single word, we could say that this impact is autonomy.

By autonomy, we mean the user’s ability to do what they want to do without intermediaries, without the need for help, documentation, training, or advice. Nothing. Just the user with their mental model.

A good measure of the experience we provide is the level of autonomy we offer our users.

Autonomy is not just the freedom to choose, but also the ability to solve problems in any environment.
